Having Fun with Dan & Susan

Rob hanging out with Uncle Dan. He is making sure
we keep to formalities and call him and Susan by their
rightful titles! No, it's not just "Dan" it's "UNCLE DAN"!

Marcus and Uncle Dan have a bet going of who can scare who...
Allie told Uncle Dan if he taught class at church all
the kids would want to hug him!

Susan and I went on a 22 mile bike ride to the Salt Lake
Marina with Jess and Melissa. It's funny, but as we
approached the Salt Lake a cool breeze began to blow.
It was so nice! Wish we had that on the way back! This ride
is special. It reminds me of driving along PCH in California...
it's my little piece of "beach" here in Utah.

Josh and Dan on the golf course. They said it was
beautiful and they had so much fun.
Even a deer went onto the course and they
had to play around it!
Last night we went to a local park where we listened to the Utah Symphony and the Wasatch Cannon group! The last song was the 1812 Overture-the cannons were going off and the kids were loving it! It was kind of like the Hollywood Bowl for FREE! Plus, everyone got to play football or run around while enjoying the music. Ice cream for everyone after the concert, yum!

#2) Tim Hawkins Rocked!

Best Ab workout in the world-we laughed for 90 minutes straight!!!
(sorry for the blurry pic)

#3) Brothers

I love these two boys! The other night I was in their room as they were going to bed and I was talking to Marcus. He always asks me if I can come and talk with him before he goes to sleep. I treasure that time with him. I love to be able to talk with him about whatever he wants. The topic the other night was weddings!

Here's the conversation:

Marcus: "How old do you have to be to get married?"

Me: "LEGALLY you have to be 18! BUT, remember Daddy was 21 when he got married?"

Rob (jumped into the talk from his upper bunk) "How old would I be if you got married when you're 18?"

Marcus: "You'd be 15, Rob."

Rob: "Marcus, can I be your ring bearer when you get married?"

Me: (I'm going into complete heart meltdown at the sweetness of Rob's request and laughing inside at the thought of him being a 15 year old teen ring bearer!!)

Marcus: "No, Rob...you're going to be my best man!"

Me: (Another heart felt mommy moment...I will always remember this talk!)

#4) Working Out
I've gotten back into the swing of things and working out with my triathlon buddies. Monday I went to boot camp that Josh teaches. Still sore today! Tuesday did a "brick" workout...Rode my bike 4 miles and then immediately after ran 2 miles. Wednesday rode about 6 miles with Marcus! Such a highlight for me. He did awesome! My new riding buddy!
Then, Thursday I swam 1500 meters (1 mile) and Marcus did about half of that with me!
Also, Marcus has started his training for fall football and runs sprints up a hill on the corner of our street. He's a machine! More exercising for me today and tomorrow!

#5)  Signed up for a girls only, MUD obstacle course run!

Yes, I am going to do this run next Saturday, even though I can't stand to be dirty and muddy! I still can't believe I'm doing it. I would never do this by myself, but it will be a super fun time with girls in our church and my beautiful sister who comes into town next week with her hubby! Whoo hoo! Can't wait!

We love Bible Conference!

We are so excited for our annual Bible Conference next week!!! Josh and I have always gone to conference every June since we've been married. We love it. It is such a refreshing time for us. We always hear very timely words for our lives. It's encouraging and helpful to glean wisdom from other pastors that have gone before us and are still on the mission field today.
Plus, we love to see all of our friends and family.
 It's kind of a special reunion :)

We would really appreciate your prayers!

Our prayer requests for our trip:
For God to speak to Josh and I regarding our lives, marriage, family, work and ministry
Traveling grace and mercies
Special visit with family & friends
Our kids to be blessed & encouraged in their walk with God-as they go to special services just for kids

Celebrating Zack's Birthday

Yesterday Big Brother Zack turned 20!
Allie helped me make his cake. It's actually an ice cream cake known as girdle buster...with crushed Oreos, ice cream, and more yummy stuff. They all helped me go shopping and pick out his gifts. Rob insisted that one of Zack's gifts be a tie to wear to church or work. But, I gave my input on the final choice! Of course, Marcus always helps light the birthday candles...that's when I let him use matches!

We had a "sweet" time celebrating after church last night!

Kennecott Copper Mine

Yesterday we took a field trip to Kennecott
Utah Copper's Bingham Canyon Mine. This mine
has produced more copper than any mine in history
...about 19 million tons!

This is ONE of the tires on the trucks that are
used in the mine.

Did you know you?

*You can see this mine from outer space.
*This mine is 2 3/4 miles across at the top and
3/4 of a mile deep.
*You could stack two Sears Towers on top of each other
and still not reach the top of the mine.
*A new haul truck costs about $3.5 million dollars!

One of my new favorite things is to give one of the
kids a disposable camera to take pictures of things
for school projects. Rob got to use one today for our
field trip. I can't wait to develop his photos and see
what he took pictures of!
