Saturday I accomplished something I've never done before...I completed my first official 40 mile bike ride! It was an all girls bike ride through neighborhoods, on a highway, on familiar roads and ones never taken before. There were uphills (a serious stretch of them at the end!) and downhills, a bit of rain, really cold weather and a strong wind to fight against the last six miles. It is something that I've wanted to do for a few years now and I am so happy I did it.
In the "shoot" ready to start the adventure
At the second rest stop (18 miles)
Look at that line for the bathrooms!
6 miles to the finish line!
After the ride we were given a super cute silver chain necklace that you can add different charms to instead of a medal. I love it-my kinda medal ;) Then we had a lunch that was hosted for all the ladies who rode, walked around and looked at the various booths selling athletic clothes and cycling gear, listened to live music, and got a free Trader Joe's bag (yes!). It was a great day. Can't wait to do it again next year.
